Clearly giving a firm nod to some of dr um & bass’ founding fathers, 'The Shroud' deliver a masterclass in drum & bass fundamentals on the Affliction EP for UVB-76 Music affiliate label, DROOGS. First up, ‘Cross’ nose dives into unknown (or maybe known?) depths, occasionally breaching the surface with some shuffles for breath recodifying a classic standard. Next, title track ‘Affliction’ is a drum and rhythm slasher, if you can spot the influences keep your hand up but don’t tell the class. ‘Ouroboros’ ups the ante with nose bleed drums and the schizophrenic panic the label has always confidently pushed while ‘Restless Minds’ wraps up what feels like a really complete release.
