It gathers material that had already begun circulating, including ‘Teenage Birdsong’, alongside ‘Baby’ featuring Ellie Goulding, and ‘4T Recordings’. The record unfolds with a loose, exploratory feel, balancing intimacy with forward motion. Hebden draws on his long-running instincts for texture and groove, letting tracks drift, build and resolve without forcing a fixed direction. There’s a sense of openness throughout, as ideas move freely between dancefloor pulse and reflective calm. First revealed via a simple Post-it note shared online, Sixteen Oceans captures Four Tet working at his most instinctive — connecting fragments into a cohesive, quietly expansive whole.
